Terms of Service
Effective date: August 18, 2026
These terms govern your use of the Candor Dining website (candordining.com) and mobile apps (together, the “Service”). By using the Service you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. What the Service provides
The Service republishes public restaurant inspection records from the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) and adds search, maps, alerts, and plain-language summaries. The hygiene summaries are Candor Dining’s own interpretation of those records and are not official state ratings or grades.
2. Informational use only
The Service is provided for general information. It is not health, legal, or professional advice, and it is not a substitute for the official record. Inspection results reflect conditions on the date of a visit and can change at any time; the DBPR’s own portal is the authoritative source. Verify anything you intend to rely on. See the
data disclaimer for details.
3. Accounts
An account is optional and free. You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential and for activity under your account. You can delete your account at any time from Settings, which removes your email address, saved restaurants, and alert history from our systems. We may suspend accounts used to abuse the Service.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to: disrupt or overload the Service or its infrastructure; probe or circumvent its security or rate limits; use automated tools to scrape at volumes that degrade the Service for others (the underlying government data is available from the DBPR directly); misrepresent Candor Dining content as official state ratings; or use the Service to harass a business or person. The contact form may not be used to send spam or unlawful content.
5. Content and intellectual property
Government inspection records are public information and belong to no one. Candor Dining’s original content — the summaries, methodology, guides, interface, and branding — belongs to Candor Dining. You may quote or link to pages freely with attribution; you may not present the Service, in whole or substantial part, as your own.
6. Advertising and third parties
The Service shows clearly labeled advertising to cover its operating costs, and links to third-party sites, including official government portals. We are not responsible for third-party content, and an ad never affects how inspection data is presented. Advertising data practices are described in the
privacy policy.
7. No warranty
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose, or uninterrupted availability. Source records may contain errors, and synchronization delays mean the newest inspection may not have arrived yet.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Candor Dining and its operator are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of — or inability to use — the Service, including decisions made in reliance on the information it presents.
9. Changes to the Service or these terms
We may change or discontinue features at any time. When these terms change materially, the effective date above is updated; continued use after a change means you accept the revised terms.
10. Governing law and contact
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to conflict of law rules. Questions about them are welcome through the
contact form.
