Candor Dining Privacy Policy

Candor Dining shows public restaurant inspection records published by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR). Hygiene statuses shown in the app are app-generated interpretations of those public records, not official ratings.

Account: if you create an account, we store your email address and a hashed password so you can sign in, save restaurants, and receive alerts. You can use the app without an account.

Location: if you tap “near me”, your device location is used once to run that search. It is sent to our server only as search coordinates and is never stored or tracked in the background. You can always search by county or city instead.

Crash reports: if a build has crash reporting enabled, technical crash data (stack traces, device model, OS version) may be sent to Sentry to help fix bugs. Crash reports are configured to exclude personal information such as your email address.

We do not sell your personal information. Restaurant data shown in the app is public record.

The Android and iOS apps use Google AdMob, and the website uses fixed Google AdSense placements, to help pay for hosting and daily data updates. Candor Dining does not use AdSense Auto ads; website ads appear only in the placements selected by Candor Dining. Google and its advertising partners may process device or advertising identifiers, IP address, approximate location, device, browser or app information, cookies, and ad interactions to deliver ads, prevent fraud, and measure performance. Where applicable and allowed by your choices, that information may also be used to personalize ads.

Google’s consent form presents the choices required in your region. Declining personalized ads does not necessarily remove advertising; contextual or non-personalized ads may still appear. In the Android and iOS apps, when Google requires a continuing privacy entry point, you can reopen the form from Settings under Privacy. Website consent choices are presented separately when required.

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to Candor Dining or other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet. You can opt out of personalized advertising in Google Ads Settings. You can also read how Google uses data on partners’ sites or apps.

Other third-party vendors and ad networks may also use cookies when they are eligible to serve advertising through Google. You can review Google’s commonly used ad technology providers and visit the Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out page to manage participating companies’ use of cookies for personalized advertising.

Hosting, the nightly data pipeline, and the domain cost money to run. Advertising helps cover that upkeep. Ads never change restaurant ordering, hygiene status, or inspection details, and a business cannot pay to alter or hide its inspection history.

You can delete your account at any time from Settings. Deletion removes your email, saved restaurants, and alert history from our systems. It does not control information processed independently by Google; use the applicable Google privacy controls for that information.
