About Candor Dining

Candor Dining is a free lookup service for Florida restaurant health inspections. It exists to answer one question quickly and honestly: what did state inspectors actually find at the places you eat? Every licensed food-service establishment inspected by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) can be searched here by name, city, county, or ZIP code, with its inspection visits, violations, and any emergency closures laid out in plain language.

Every inspection record on Candor Dining comes from the DBPR, the state agency that licenses and inspects Florida restaurants. An automated pipeline downloads the state’s published inspection files every night, validates them against the previous day’s data, and refuses to publish a refresh that fails those checks — a stale-but-correct dataset always beats a fresh-but-broken one. Each page shows when its data was last synchronized.

We do not rewrite official records. Violation descriptions and dispositions appear as the state published them, and every restaurant page links back to the official DBPR portal so you can verify the source record yourself.

The high / medium / low concern summaries are Candor Dining’s own editorial interpretation of the public record — not official state grades. They are computed by the same published methodology for every restaurant, weighing the severity mix of recent findings and closure history, and they can never be bought, edited, or suppressed by a business. Candor Dining is an independent project, built and operated in Florida. It is not affiliated with the DBPR, the State of Florida, or any restaurant, chain, or delivery platform. Hosting, the nightly data pipeline, and the domain are paid for in part by clearly labeled advertising. Ads never influence search ranking, hygiene summaries, or inspection details, and no business can pay to alter or hide its record. See the privacy policy for how advertising data is handled.

If something on this site looks wrong — a restaurant that no longer exists, an inspection that does not match the official portal, a mapping error — please contact us with the restaurant’s name and city. We compare our copy against the source data and correct genuine discrepancies, usually within a few days. If the official record itself appears wrong, we will point you to the right state channel, because only the DBPR can amend it.
